Setonaikai National Park Kankakei
Located in the heart of Shodoshima, the center of Setonaikai National Park, Kankakei is a valley situated between the island's highest peak, Mt. Hoshigajo, and Mt. Shihosashi. Formed approximately 13 million years ago by volcanic activity, the andesite and volcanic breccia layers have been sculpted over time by tectonic movements, weathering, and erosion, creating a stunning landscape of diverse rock formations and cliffs. This unique valley is celebrated as one of Japan's three most beautiful gorges and is a scenic spot that Shodoshima proudly showcases to the world.
