Diving
First, we will provide explanations and practice in the shallow waters, so please feel at ease. Barasu Island, formed by coral uplift, is only a few meters wide. However, its waters are a vast blue expanse teeming with tropical fish.

As time permits, you can also enjoy snorkeling. Once you dive in, you'll be hooked on the beauty of Barasu Island.

Guests staying in the Uehara area in western Iriomote Island are eligible for transportation service. However, transportation is not available for guests staying in the following distant areas: Ōhara, Hotel Eco Village, Jungle Hotel Painumaya, Hoshidate (Hoshidate Hotel), Sonai (Island Hotel), and Shirahama (Uminchu no Ie). Please arrange your own transportation, such as a rental car, to reach Iriomote Nature School.

Restrictions

Guests with diabetes are not permitted to participate in this activity.
Guests with a pacemaker are not permitted to participate in this activity.
Guests must be below 265 lbs (120 kg) to participate in this activity.
People 65 years old and above can not participate in this activity.
Middle school students and above can participate in this activity.
Participants Not Allowed:
Those who do not wear a life jacket on the boat, those with impaired or no vision, those who cannot move their limbs normally. (Please consult us if you have epilepsy, hypertension, developmental disorders, or other medical conditions.)
If you have tattoos, please ensure that your back and other areas are covered. Being shirtless is not allowed. (Tattoos on hands, arms, legs, and neck are acceptable.) When swimming, if you have tattoos on your upper body, please wear a T-shirt.
At the time of booking confirmation, a “Designated Natural Tourism Resource Entry Approval Fee” (500 yen per person) will be charged. Please note that this fee is non-refundable even in the event of cancellation. ^[A]
Do not drink alcohol within 8 hours of scuba diving.
Guests may not scuba dive if you have any medical issue indicated on the "PADI Medical Statement and Questionnaire". Those with medical issues must consult with a physician and complete the "RSTC Medical Statement and Guidelines for Recreational Scuba Diver's Physical Examination" on their behalf.
Guests may not fly within 12 hours of a one-tank scuba dive due to the high risk of decompression sickness.　
Guests with asthma or other respiratory problems are not permitted to participate in this activity.
Guests with heart and cardiovascular issues are not permitted to participate in this activity.
Guests who are pregnant are not permitted to participate in this activity.
Guests with a fever are not permitted to participate in this activity.
Guests who are suffering from the ill-effects of the excessive consumption alcohol or are under the influence of alcohol on the day of the activity, are not permitted to participate in this activity.

Additional notes

The activity schedule is subject to change or cancellation due to weather or traffic conditions.
Starting from March 2025, a daily entry restriction system will be implemented for specific natural tourism resources, including the Pinaisara Falls area.
As prior approval for entry will be required, the tour operator will submit the necessary application to Taketomi Town based on the information you provide at the time of booking. ^[A]

・Names and ages of all accompanying participants

Other requirements

Barasu Island is a high encounter area for sea turtles, but as they are natural creatures, encountering them is not guaranteed.
Since reservation reconfirmation is required, the tour operator will contact you the day before your participation. Please provide an email address that can be contacted via mobile phone when making your reservation."

From 3 business days before the tour date at 00:00 (local time) until 2 business days before at 00:00: 50% of the total booking amount
From 2 business days before the tour date at 00:00 (local time) onward: 100% of the total booking amount

For participants of Intro Diving + Pinaisara Falls Kayaking, a “Designated Natural Tourism Resource Entry Approval Fee” (500 yen per person) will be charged at the time of booking confirmation.
Please note that this fee (500 yen) is non-refundable even in the event of cancellation.
