Located in eastern Iriomote, the Maera River is perfect for mangrove canoeing and trekking. At Maera Falls, you can jump into the basin from 2 meters high. Safe for kids and seniors, and less crowded even in summer, it’s ideal for a peaceful nature experience!

Kukaze staff will pick you up at your accommodation. (Service is available for the Toyohara to Takana areas.)
Pickup times may vary depending on the location of your accommodation, and we will inform you the day before.
After the tour, we will drop you off at your accommodation on Iriomote Island or at the port.
*Pick-up and drop-off are available for accommodations around Ōhara Port, Eco Village, and Jungle Hotel Painumaya.
■ For Guests Joining from Ishigaki Island
Departure is from Ishigaki Island Remote Island Terminal. You will board the 8:30 AM ferry to Ohara Port. Details will be provided the day before.
■ For Guests Joining from Taketomi or Kohama Island
Take the first ferry to Ishigaki Island, then board the 8:30 AM ferry to Ohara Port.〇 Post-Tour Drop-Off
Guests in Ohara/Takana areas: Drop-off at your accommodation.
Guests near Uehara Port: Drop-off at Ohara Port or Yubu Island.

Restrictions
- Participants aged 4 to 80 are welcome!
- Customers aged 60 and over will be required to confirm their physical fitness at the time of booking. (The strength and stamina to walk through the jungle are necessary.)
- If less than 2 participants are booked, the activity may not operate.
What to bring

Wear a long-sleeve rash guard or HeatTech as a base layer, with a lightweight T-shirt on top. From November to March, bring nylon outerwear or rainwear for warmth.
● Lower Body
Layer long leggings or spats under half-pants or swimwear for comfort and warmth. Lightweight outdoor long pants are also recommended. - As your lower body may get wet from walking in the river or rain, please wear swimwear. Thick clothing such as jeans, chinos, or sweatpants is unsuitable year-round, so please avoid wearing them.
- Other personal items (such as tissues, etc.)
- For smokers, please use a portable ashtray.
- There are no toilets in the field, so having tissues and a trash bag will give you peace of mind.

Karakaze staff will pick you up from your accommodation (service available from Toyohara to Takana areas). Pick-up times will be confirmed the day before. After the tour, we will drop you off at your accommodation or the port. - Note: Pick-up is available from Ohara Port to Eco Village and Jungle Hotel Painumaya. Guests wishing to participate must travel to the meeting point by rental car or other means. Pick-up is available for guests staying near Ohara Port or in the Ohara area.
- ■ For Guests Joining from Ishigaki Island
◎ Departure is from Ishigaki Island Remote Island Terminal. Details will be provided via phone the day before the tour. Generally, you will board the 8:30 AM ferry departing Ishigaki Island for Ohara Port. - ■ For Guests Joining from Taketomi or Kohama Island
Guests staying on Taketomi or Kohama Island must travel via Ishigaki Island.
Take the first ferry of the day from your island to Ishigaki Island.
Upon arrival, board the 8:30 AM ferry departing for Ohara Port. - 〇 Post-Tour Drop-Off

Guests staying in the Ohara or Takana areas will be dropped off at their accommodation after the tour.
For those staying near the Uehara area, drop-off is only available at Ohara Port or Yubu Island. Please arrange your own transportation (e.g., bus or rental car) from Ohara Port or Yubu Island to your accommodation.
・ For Guests Staying on Ishigaki Island
After the tour, we will drop you off at Ohara Port.
